South Philadelphia, stretching from river to river, is one of the biggest sections of the city.  It includes everything South of Washington Avenue, and within that space are plenty of smaller sections. There’s Bella Vista, Grays Ferry, and Point Breeze; each with its very own character.

Bella Vista is the connection between Center City and South Philadelphia.  Located just south of South Street, it includes Fabric Row and Passyunk East.  It’s also the site of the famous Italian Market on 9th Street, filled with produce stands, cheeses, and the famous Pat’s Steaks, the originator of the steak sandwich.

Grey’s Ferry is the home of the new PAWS Clinic that supplies veterinary services to low-income dog and cat owners, providing much needed help to Philadelphia’s four legged residents.  It also has everything a homeowner could ever need, with an IKEA, Pier One Imports, Target and Wal-Mart, all located along Columbus Boulevard.  For those who need to grocery shop, there’s the Asian and the Hung Vuong supermarkets on Washington Avenue, near Broad Street.

South Philadelphia is also the place to be for Philadelphia Sports.   The Phillies’ Citizen Bank Park, Flyers’ Wells Fargo Center and the Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field are all at the far end of this district.  All three stadiums are located within walking distance of AT&T Station (formerly Pattison Station), the last stop Southbound on the Broad Street line.  If the game is sold out there are plenty of bars like Chickie and Pete’s or McFadden’s that broadcast the game on big screen televisions.  Whether at the game or just watching it, South Philadelphia is a paradise for any Philadelphia sports fan.
