Professional Cat Herder at work, Dog Person at home. Traveler who is drawn to bodies of water. Food, wine and cocktail connoisseur. Extroverted introvert. Love meeting new people, connecting socially and networking, preferably in smaller groups, but If plans were cancelled, that would be okay too.
What's your favorite client story?
It’s the connections made that make the work satisfying. I was helping a commercial property owner get through the city’s permitting process for a building her company recently acquired. It was an unusual space and only a few things would really work there. Some time later, a business owner was lamenting that she needed to move her business for various reasons. It turned out to be the perfect match. Not only the space but the relationship. They worked collaboratively and seamlessly to build out the space to fit. The property owner is a great landlord, as I knew she would be, and the business is thriving there.
You have a day off in Philly. What do you do?
Summer weekends mean bike rides along Martin Luther King Drive or up to Valley Forge. Biking around Philly is easy and really enjoyable. Winter weekends means museums. We are history buffs so Philly is the right place for us. My husband and I like to pick a neighborhood and spend the afternoon there, exploring all we can and then finding a place for a cocktail and light dinner. We found places with great wine lists but really like the BYOB scene here too. We lived in the country for a long time so being part of a vibrant city is a great change of scenery.
What's the architectural detail your eye always gravitates towards?
Texture combinations. Timeless wood floors against stone fireplaces, mixing wood with industrial elements like concrete and steel. Natural, rough wood beams in plaster ceilings.
Favorite community organization.
Northern Liberties Business Improvement District – Business organizations don’t always get a lot of recognition and as a former Chamber of Commerce CEO, I appreciate their work. Without them, our neighborhoods and business district would look very different. The NL BID maintains a safe, clean and vibrant commercial district which benefits everyone. They do little things like proving trash cans and street cleaning for a better environment and they accomplish big things like assist small businesses, organize fun street festivals and find grants to improve parking and landscaping. All they do ensures Northern Liberties continues to be a desirable place to live, work, shop, invest and visit.
What differentiates you within real estate?
I think my diverse experience gives me insight into client’s situations and the ability to empathize with what is happening in their life at the time of purchase. Having lived on both coasts and the mid-west, gives me a perspective that helps investors and people new to Philly. Having been in and out of home ownership, I know what it’s like to purchase that first home. I also know what its like to go through recession and climb back out. I’ve had my own business, worked in nonprofits, government and the private sector. I am a mom and an empty nester who is on a new urban adventure. My crazy, ever changing life gives me a foundation to understand client’s varying situations and it drives me to find the best solution for them.
One last thing...
Over a glass of wine, let me put together your itinerary to Napa or Sonoma Valley, I know my way around!
