What's your favorite client story?

I had a great couple rent a house from me and everything was going smoothly for several months. One Friday night I received a text from one of the tenants and opened it expecting there to be an emergency issue or concern. Instead, she was writing me to say how happy she was in the house, and how she had been so busy traveling but was finally relaxing and enjoying the house as her own home! She included photos of every room fully furnished and decorated, as well as a heartfelt thank you. It was a great moment to know that I can provide homes to people who love them as much as I do.

You have a day off in Philly. What do you do?

Work takes me all over the city, so when I have a day off I prefer to stay in the Northwest and do hyper-local things in Germantown. If it's a weekend I love to meet up with a friend for an early morning hike in the Wissahickon. It's so peaceful there and invigorating to get outside in all seasons. After hiking I like to grab a coffee at Ultimo or Uncle Bobbie's before checking in with my family at home and then heading to visit my plants at the Penn-Knox community garden. When I need to supplement what I grow myself I head up to the farmstand at Germantown Kitchen Garden to grab extra veggies, eggs and fresh baked bread. In the afternoon my kids and I will ride bikes to a playground and then to the library to check out as many books as we can carry, stopping by K and J Caribbean for some Jamaican food to bring home for dinner. Usually we've got some sort of art project or DIY project going on at home (2019 was the year of the treehouse) so I'll spend the evening on a creative endeavor before relaxing with a book, then collapsing, exhausted and happy, at the end of the day.

What's the architectural detail your eye always gravitates towards?

I love historic homes with original woodwork! Staircase railings and elegant bannisters, interior columns and built-in bookcases, inlaid floors with oak and walnut paneling covering entire walls, pocket doors, crown molding and coffered ceilings.... I could go on !!

Favorite community organization.

Philadelphia Neighborhood Gardens Trust, for preserving and protecting community gardens and shared open spaces throughout the city.
