What's your favorite client story?
The time I had to search a graveyard for a 60 year old grave in order to clear title for settlement. It was a quick closing and we didn't have time to wait for City Hall to find the very old death certificate, so we got creative!
You have a day off in Philly. What do you do?
The only two givens on a day off in Philly is that it starts with me walking my dog around the neighborhood and grabbing a cappuccino from Ultimo Coffee. From there, it all depends on the season. In the Spring or Summer, I would take my dog Buddy swimming at the dog beach on the Wissahickon or enjoying one of our many public parks or pools. Spring, Summer and Fall usually entail attending any number of street festivals that take place every weekend throughout the city. Being married to a serious cook, most days off include visit the Italian and Reading Terminal Markets, regardless of the season. Winter is all about the museums and enjoying cooking (and eating) and relaxing in our South Philly rowhome.
To be honest though, some of my favorite days off have started without a plan. I just hop on the Subway or in the car, start walking and see where the day takes me. Philadelphia is such a magical city that just wandering around checking out the architecture, exploring and people watching can make for an amazing day.
What's the architectural detail your eye always gravitates towards?
I'm a sucker for anything Victorian.
Favorite community organization.
There are so many great organizations in Philadelphia that I can't really name a favorite. The one I have been most involved with is The Garces Family Foundation, which provides healthcare and educational services to immigrants. I spent much of my childhood in South America, so I speak Spanish. I was honored to be able to use one of my skills to help an underserved community.
I live in the Newbold section of South Philadelphia, so the Newbold Civic Association is another important one for me.
What differentiates you within real estate?
I feel as if my background in fine arts and my work experience in construction give me a very different perspective and some extra insight.
