Our team at Digs Real Estate is always on the hunt for the best food our area has to offer. Philadelphia hosts an amazing array of mouth watering  goodies, BUT an 8 minute train ride on the PATCO line into Collingswood, New Jersey would bring us to one of the best farmers markets in the area. The decision was made. We boarded the PATCO and headed south!

Upon arrival, we were shocked at the array of fresh goods available. This market is stocked to the brim with organic fruits and berries such as melons, bananas, mangoes and veggies such as a variety of greens, broccoli, zucchini, corn, asparagus, broccoli and many, many more. In addition the market hosts made to order quesadilla, waffles, omelets, quiche, freshly squeezed orange juice, lemonade and even offers a coffee bar with table seating!

After our team at Digs was through devouring our 3 cheese quesadilla (stuffed with fresh veggies and served with a side of freshly made guacamole) we headed out to do some shopping in the bustling center of the market. The first thing we noticed was that everyone was offering free samples of the meticulously displayed fresh fruits and veggies. Raspberries, blueberries, ten different varieties of apples, you name it, it’s available and everything was delicious. As you’re selecting and sampling local, organic produce you’re serenaded by local musicians playing jazz and it is delightful.

When we were through stocking up we headed out to the main drag in Collingswood, Haddon Ave. Adorable (check), convenient (check), affordable (check) an easy weekend staycation (check and check). The town of Collingswood has a small town feel and offers up local restaurants such as The Pop Shop (stay tuned for a review on this local hot spot), Villa Barone and Woksabi. In addition, there are various retail shops that offer a wide variety of merchandise such as Dig This and the Arts plus Gallery.

The Collingswood Farmers Market did not disappoint our team at Digs. The market runs from 8am through noon every Saturday, rain or shine. We will not only circle back to this market our team will be reviewing several Collingswood, New Jersey restaurants so stay tuned! An 8 minute ride on the PATCO and a 15 minute drive to the city, Collingswood, New Jersey is an oasis for raising families and a convenient alternative to living in the city.
